Hepatitis A is the disease of the liver, It is Caused by Hepatitis A virus. Hepatitis A is transmitted by fecal-oral means and does not cause chronic illness. It is diagnosed by the presence of IgM antibody in the blood.

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Jaundice, Fatigue, Nausea, Fever, Diarrhea, abdominal Pain, Yellow eyes, Malaise, Anorexia, Myalgia, Sore throat.

Transmission:

  • Sexual Contact

  • Hepatitis is found in the stool of the person who is infected with Hepatitis A virus

  • Injecting Drug users

  • Household contact with infection person.

Diagnosis:

  • Blood test (IgM anti-HAV) is required to diagnose hepatitis A virus.

Prevention:

  • Immune globulin for protection against viral hepatitis A.

  • Hepatitis A Vaccine (vaccine is recommended before the infected with hepatitis A virus).

Treatment:

  • Their is no treatment available for hepatitis A virus.
